LIVE RECORDING

The premiere of his seventh symphony in 1884 marked a turning point in Anton Bruckner's career. Before, he had been recognised as a fantastic organist and composer of church music, receiving a professorship for organ, basso continuo and counterpoint at the Vienna Conservatoire in 1868- but had never been taken seriously with his monumental orchestral works. The seventh signified the breakthrough as a symphonist for the 60 year old, and his first recognised success nationwide.

Marcus R. Bosch on Bruckner:
„...the eighth symphony is perhaps his greatest work, the seventh is his most beautiful...“

"Recorded in first-rate stereophonic sound, played with a great deal of feeling for the long line, with movement but without seeming rushed; a rich, warm orchestral sound..."
(Andrea Meuli, Musik und Theater 07/2005)
